Voyeur
Voyeur is an exhibition book showcasing the work of artists who explore the intersection where fiction becomes reality and reality becomes fiction.
The exhibition presents a survey of the composition of reality through the work and perspectives of the creators and observers who craft it. These artists discuss the societal and political forces that dictate our lives and reframe such influences in their photography or video pieces. Along with essays and interviews that discuss authority and the manipulation of reality in art, a secondary text by David Foster Wallace runs throughout the pages, interrupting the existing content with another stream of consciousness that explores the connections between television and literature, loneliness and advertising.
Voyeur explores those who watch, those who are being watched, and those who create their stories. Artists include Laura Letinsky, Carrie Mae Weems, Gregory Crewdson, Cao Fei, Stan Douglas, and Pipilotti Rist.
