The Great American Write Series: James Baldwin
A 12-page booklet that depicts the life and work of author James Baldwin. Inspired by Baldwin's piece, A Letter to My Nephew, the booklet presents Baldwin’s thoughts on his nephew’s predicted future as a black man in America. Images of children in 1930’s Harlem are spread quietly throughout the booklet’s simple, scrapbook-like pages. These children, though largely unaware of the worries that Baldwin dedicated his life to addressing, are particularly vulnerable as they grow up in a nation whose history of racism and oppression will undeniably shape who they become.
